Reading Contemporary Art Show, 2017

Thank you to all who attended the recent #Reading Contemporary Art Show and came to visit me on my stand. It was a great success and a surprisingly pleasant experience for me. I was assured, by visitors attending, that they thoroughly enjoyed it too. So this is an experience I will seriously consider repeating next year!
For those who didn't make it to this event to receive a personal invitation to my Open Studios event on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th May 11 a.m. -5 p.m. at : #Studio 21 #Caversham where the work on display will be more extensive than the space of a small stand permits, and work not exhibited at RCAF will be on display along with some new work not previously shown.
Some new paintings will also be on display from 4-13th at the joint exhibition at the Turbine Hall, Blake's Lock Museum, otherwise known as the Riverside Museum, curated by Ingrid Jensen from Open Hand Studios. On the Saturday evening I hope this work will move from there to my Open Studio event unless previously sold. Some of the paintings relate directly to the theme of the #festivalofthedark #outrideranthems project which is being promoted locally.
Also don't forget to visit the #Insight Gallery at Greenham Common for the #North Hampshire and West Berkshire Open Studios 2017 Exhibition which displays a work from majority of all this years participating artists. Michael Norcross.#Studio 21

If you're like me and haven't really started Christmas shopping and you haven't got a clue as to what to buy, then perhaps we might have a solution for you. Handbags, purses, brooches, all hand made in leather; paintings, prints, and cards, many of local scenes; jewellery: Silver, acrylic, and combinations, necklaces, earrings,pendants in a range of styles and designs, all made here at Studio 21. We are open from 10.30am - 5.30pm Saturday and Sunday the last weekend before CHRISTMAS!

HENLEY ART and CRAFTS GUILD

AUTUMN EXHIBITION

Friday 7th October is the start of the Autumn Exhibition by the Henley Art and Crafts Guild. It is open daily, 10am - 4pm and you have until the 21st October to see a collection of work by the members of the guild, paintings, sculpture and prints. 'A privileged View' of Queen Anne's School, Caversham, a painting by Michael Norcross and artist's proofs from his Christchurch Meadows prints series: 'Park Life', will be part of this exhibition at the Old Fire Station, Upper Market street, Henley.

Arlington Arts Exhibition

The Space Between.
I'm exhibiting some of my bags at Arlington Arts, the title of show above. The Space Between, could or can mean anything so I thought I'd have a go at some weaving with leather, which I will never do again because it took me aaaages. I took a couple of pictures during my endurance, but forgot to take a photo of the finished bag. So you'll have to go to Arlington Arts venue to see it, plus the rest of the exhibition, which is open from the 7th to the 29th June. Well worth a visit and set in some lovely surroundings. Medium: Oils, printmaking, drawing, mixed media.
My current interest lies in exploring spacial
sequences using humble and sometimes repetitive forms; the juxtaposition between stillness and energy, where emptiness is form and form is emptiness. In Quantum Physics even a stationary form or object contains energy which is
locked within its atoms. This contained, pure energy is not fixed or determined but in a continual state of flux between matter and anti-matter; perfectly counter-balanced and identical as a mirror image.
Sue Diffey was tutored by
the late Cecil Collins at Central St.Martins in the 1970’s and her life drawing
studies have also developed directly from honoring this energy and stillness.

If you live in Caversham and are thinking of visiting, it would be great, if it's not too far, to walk here. Refreshments will be available for the thirsty! If you're driving, there is parking on Gosbrook road by the park, either side of the road, 2 hr parking on Falkland rd, i think!Parking in Elliots way, that;s the next road down. Also there is the car park in Caversham, the lower part is best as it's independant of waitrose. Maybe a bit of shopping first! There is a car park on George street and a lovely 10min walk a long the River Thames and across the park. To look at the map , scroll down.

Insight Exhibition 2012. New Greenham Arts

Insight exhibition 2012

The Open Studios month long event, starts with the Insight exhibition at New Greenham Arts Centre, Newbury. All the artists and crafts people taking part in the event, will have a piece of work on display. This gives the visitor a taster, or insight into each of the artists work. There is also a very good and useful catalogue available.It lists all the artists names etc, plus info on all the exhibitions taking place in Berkshire and North Hampshire. It's a very useful reference booklet. If anyone would like one please contact me,Vicky Baker.

For one week at the Court barn Museum, Chipping Campden, will be original work by a select few of designer/makers of the Worcestershire Guild of Designer, Craftsmen. The work is of exceptional quality,decorative aswell as practical. All of the work is for sale at the beautiful venue, the Court Barn Museum.For sale will be, textiles, jewellery, Glass, wood,metal and leather.
