Studio 21, is open for the weekend of 28th - 30th November 2014. Close to Caversham Centre, an opportunity to browse and buy some original, bespoke and unique Christmas gifts for friends and family. Work includes: leather, furniture, wood turning, textiles, jewellery, ceramics, paintings, prints and more.
Meet the artists, four Berkshire designer/makers and artist, Jim Crockatt, Sally Bettridge, Vicky Baker  and Michael Norcross . We look forward to seeing you at Studio 21, for a refreshing alternative to shopping on the high street, come and browse at your leisure.

Christmas At Studio 21, is opening its doors for the weekend ( including Friday) 28th -30th November. Close to Caversham center, the local studio, will be presenting a selection of Art and Craft, for those unique gifts for Christmas,  all handmade and bespoke quality, by four Arts and Crafts people living and working in Berkshire.
Artists include:
Sally Bettridge. Terracotta and Porcelain ware.
Jim Crockatt. Furniture and some wood turning.
Michael Norcross. Paintings and prints.
Vicky/ Victoria Baker. Leather, textiles and Jewellry.

HENLEY ART and CRAFTS GUILD

                                                       AUTUMN EXHIBITION

Friday 7th October is the start of the Autumn Exhibition by the Henley Art and Crafts Guild. It is open daily, 10am - 4pm and you have until the 21st October to see a collection of work by the members of the guild, paintings, sculpture and prints. 'A privileged View' of Queen Anne's School, Caversham, a painting by Michael Norcross and  artist's proofs from his Christchurch Meadows prints series: 'Park Life', will be part of this exhibition at the Old Fire Station, Upper Market street, Henley.

Visited the flagship exhibition at New Greenham Arts centre. Insight 2014.
There are over a hundred artists taking part with some wonderful and varied work. My favorite piece of sculpture is the whirlwind of leaves in bronze, by Siobhan Coppinger, it's really beautiful. Also some eye catching paintings by Jill Eislee and Nuala Whales. It really needs more than one visit, there is Studio 8 to visit as well!
The exhibition at Arlington Arts starts on Thursday 15th, called Cover to Cover.

CHRISTCHURCH MEADOWS UNDER THREAT.
This is urgent we need your support for this campaign to prevent development of ChristChurch Meadows. We need to raise at least 1500 signatures to achieve a much needed debate in the council as they tend to ignore the observations and objections of those that live in and around the meadows. Prevent further flooding.

Christmas at Studio 21 takes place at 21 Patrick Road, Caversham RG4 8DD, on two weekends the 14,15, 16, and 23 & 24^th of November 2013 Open: 10.30-5.00 p.m. daily. A very short walk from Caversham centre, Caversham’s Studio 21 presents ‘Designed for Christmas’ a selection of art and craft. The high quality work on show includes original contemporary work by talented designer/makers and artists. Each exhibitor is represented by a selection of stunning work in ceramics, textiles, leather handbags, jewellery, fine art, carved wooden fish sculptures, basket making, prints, cards. The fish are all individual although I always use local english oak for the body, inlay hickory for the spots, boxwood for the lighter colour of the eyes and usually bamboo for the teeth. 
They are all numbered on sterling silver tags hanging from the tails. They range from 20 to 58 inches long and are priced from £175 to £1400+. 
 I enjoy working in all natural materials, especially wood and metal. My main influences are medieval and renaissance objects and art and I try to capture character, life and a timeless quality in all my pieces

Vicky Baker: A range of hand stitched Leather bags can accomodate a life, but be a stylish and elegant object, with a strong sense of sculptural form and line. Othetrs have a similar function but in textiles and leather combinations. Jewellery is simple and contemporary, combining both modern and conventional materials.

Sally Bettridge: Presents a wide range of high fired domestic earthenware and a new range of porcelain forms.Handthrown earthenware is trailed with coloured slips using a traditional technique, producing a contemporary design whic has specific food related functions. Porcelain forms are cast in handmade moulds, and then decorated, using a range of subtle glazes to enhance the translucency of the clay. A third and final kiln firing adds Gold and Platinum lustres to complete the delicate surface. T:01635 42701

Local landscapes, personal as well as found imagery all convey an interest in shadows involving colour, luminosity, mood and atmosphere. Some provide more complex ideas for paintings with narrative elements, which can operate on several different levels. Once again the season of Open Studios is upon us. West berkshire and North Hampshire's artists will be opening their doors to the general public again, all willing to exhibit and demonstrate their art or craft. There are at least 70 artists to visit and 23 exhibitions of which Studio 21 in Caversham will be one of them.
